Supervisory Nurse (Director of Nursing)

Summary This position is located at the Lower Brule Health Center, Lower Brule, SD.
The position is responsible for supervision of the nursing staff and assigning, directing and coordinating the nursing activities of the unit.
In addition, independently initiates and carries out a variety of nursing duties associated with patient care.
Responsibilities Implements an effective, on-going program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.
Formulates and implements plan of action to effectively utilize resources.
Develops and manages budget for the nursing department.
Collaborates with other department heads to negotiate, determine and/or coordinate work related changes in the health care programs.
Approves, modifies or rejects formal requests for promotions, reassignments, status changes, leave requests, awards, and enforces disciplinary actions, interviews, and selects candidates.

MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Oversee a nursing division in an operating health care facility; establish and maintain compliance with various regulatory accreditations; assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients; coordinate patient care and support activities; assign work to subordinates, rate performance, interview candidates for positions, and providing training.
OR, successfully completed a PH.
D.
or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Additional Information Per IHS policy (SGM 21-04) IHS selectees to positions located in Federally operated hospitals, health centers, and clinics must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS approve a medical or religious exemption.
